Point Loma a beautiful, hilly peninsula is just six miles north of vibrant, busy downtown San Diego.  Even though there is a very close proximity to downtown, Point Loma real estate is quite different.
Rather than the sleek, shiny high rise condos, homes in Point Loma tend to be single family houses on quiet tree lined streets.  The Point Loma peninsula is surrounded by water, the majestic Pacific Ocean and the more tranquil San Diego Bay.  Eleven distinct  neighborhoods comprise Point Loma (including Ocean Beach).  Several of  the neighborhoods boast awesome water views.  Many homes in Sunset Cliffs, La Playa, Ocean Beach, Wooded Area and even Fleetridge,  Roseville, and Loma Portal are true view homes.  Besides the ocean, or  bay, a lot of Point Loma houses also boast stunning downtown San Diego skyline vistas.

There are two very charming village commercial areas, Ocean Beach and  the Village of Point Loma.  Ocean Beach is known for many antique stores.  OB, the quintessential beach town, often considered funky and quaint, and has very few franchise businesses.  Actually, Point Loma Village doesn't have much in the way of big franchises either.  Both areas boast terrific restaurants with choices ranging from elegant fine dining to funky beach taco and hamburger "dives".  I love the fact there are so many unique, non-chain businesses here.  Shops, salons and eateries run by the owner are often so much more interesting.

Another popular weekly event for both Ocean Beach and Point Loma are  the Farmers Markets.  OB does have the much larger open air market which also showcases art, jewelry, clothing and entertainment.  It is held every Wednesday afternoon, stop by and check it out.
