Oldham County Veterinary Services in LaGrange, Kentucky across from Cherrywood Place subdivision is an awesome place to take your pets. Our friend gave us a kitten and after much debating, we named her Hollie Ali as a compromise. We added the Ali because she is such a scrapper, a little bitty thing and not scared of the big neighbor cats at all! You'd never know it by looking at her photo of her on the water bowl. She's a lover and a fighter! We normally keep our cats indoors but if we are outside or in the garage we will let them out for a bit. They are very good about staying in the yard.
I was concerned about Hollie so I called the vet my husband took Loopy to last year. Tracy, the receptionist, was really nice about working us in on a Saturday, and they also took Loopy in to get her shots for the year. Dr. Maggie was the nicest vet I've ever been to and she seems to know intuitively what is wrong with the animals before you even tell her. She let me hear the cats' heartbeat and even showed us the microscope.
Hollie had worms. My friend that gave her to us told us she had treated her for them, but Dr. Maggie said that over-the-counter remedies for worms usually don't work. She also had ear mites, bless her heart.
My mother-in-law's cat Mitzie had been whining and scratching her ears for months. She just attributed it to damp weather, but after my visit I knew there was a possibility that she had ear mites too. So once again, they worked us into their schedule on a Saturday and Mitzie did indeed have ear mites. All cats are well now with a big thanks to Dr. Maggie and her staff. And if you look on the internet you'll see other people have glowing reviews for Dr. Maggie as well.
If you'd like to contact them their number is 502-225-0606. Their rates are very reasonable compared to others I've been to. I believe Oldham County Veterinary Services is owned by Kenneth P. Schmidt, DVM and he may practice there as well. What a great resource for Oldham County animal lovers!

Hollie Ali &
Mitzie -
can you make a caption for this photo? :)
(Poor Mitzie - you can see her little red droopy ears before we took her to the vet - all better now!)
I had to throw in a picture of our best neighborhood friend Daisy Belle making herself at home in our flower pot!
