Hey everyone, this is such a great event the Petsmart has going on this weekend in the Aurora, Co. area.  How could you pass up a chance to taking one of these great dogs home with you.  I know Brandy, my dog, has friends up and down the street that she plays with, but I think maybe a neighbor who does not have a dog is going there tomorrow to take a look.  Everyone needs a home!

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend – Aurora, Colorado

 

Today through Sunday the PetSmart at 7350 S. Gartrell Road in Aurora, Colorado is hosting their National Adoption Weekend in partnership with the Local Animal Welfare Organization.

I went by the even today and my heart broke right open for all the loving homeless dogs just waiting to adopt a new family.  I would estimate somewhere between 75 to 100 dogs were anxiously awaiting their new humans.

I had the opportunity to speak with Aileen Peek, Director of SLV Animal Welfare Society from Alamosa, Colorado.  She traveled over 6 hours with 58 homeless dogs in tow.  She was a little down because only one dog adopted a new family today from the gang she brought.  I told her to have faith because the weather would be wonderful this weekend and I was sure that more people would open up their homes and hearts to these furry friends.

If you have been thinking about making room in your in your life for a new family member, PLEASE go by the Adoption Event.  I promise your life will change in a great way!!!

I am such a sucker. I can't go near a place like this without wanting to take an animal home. We have one rescued dog and five rescued cats.

Will...and Belinda, such an event is both heart breaking and heart warming.  Through no fault of their own, these loveable creatures find themselves homeless.  Bless the kindness of strangers willing to foster and advocate for a better life for them.  I sure hope they all found awesome forever homes during the event.  I'm thinking Rocky needs a canine buddy.

Will, The last 2 dogs we adopted were in cardboard boxes in front of big brand stores...I hope it is a huge success as every one of them deserve to be in loving homes!

I can't go to these events anymore as I am at my "pet limit" of 2 dogs and 1 cat. (Plus a husband and 2 kids) However, I always try and help spread the word as I think it is fabulous what they do. I have a pure bred and a rescue lan/retriever and I swear he says Thank You with his eyes.

OMG I hate to see such cute dogs in kennels and not get adopted.  This is a subject very close to my heart.  We just adopted a rescue - well, actually, we rescued her ~ that's a good subject for another blog post.  Thanks so much for sharing this to your community.  There are millions of homeless dogs in the US and some great organizations trying to help them.  Rescueme.org is a good one too. Thanks!
