No Tripod Needed To Make A Video Without The "Jitters"

Your videos will have the "jitters' when you shoot
  • from a moving car taking pictures of whatever interests you
  • holding the camcorder in your hands and moving to shoot a clip when using a tripod is not practical
There is an easy "fix" if you upload your videos to YouTube. You will also have an opportunity to add special effects.

Once you upload a video and open it in Video Manager it will look like this. Please note I have encircled a link called "Enhancements"


When you click on the link "Enhancements" the screen will look like the one below.

Note The picture has divided with the left side titled "Original" and the right side titled "Preview".
  • As soon as you click on the link titled "Stabilize" (circled in yellow) your video will run and you'll be able to see the changes as it progresses - they are not as good as the final product, but you will notice the difference
  • Once it has run its' length you click on Save (circled in red)
Notes

You will receive a message telling you your edit is in process and the video will run in its' original version until the edit is complete.

If you go to Video Manager you will see an "Edit in Progress" over your thumbnail photo. It can be a slow process, but it will go away eventually.

There is a link below to the left of "Stabilize" titled "Auto Fix" - I have no idea what that does as I edit my clips in video editng software before I upload to YouTube.

The balloons you see below "Stabilize" allow you to add special effects which I have never used in my real estate videos

I love the new enhancements on the video manager on YouTube.  It's nice to be able to edit a video after it's been uploaded.

I've used that feature as well as the "rotate" feature.  I keep forgetting the orientation my mobile phone uses to record so sometimes my videos need to be rotated right.

The wonderful part of being an AR blogger is the many things I learn every day when I log in... I use You Tube on a regular basis and had no idea of these extra features!  It certainly does make the video much more professional looking and easier to view..

Karen, thanks for sharing this feature. I've looked at a few of my video attempts over the past few days and some sure made me downright dizzy.  It seems not all is lost after all!

Used the stabilize feature a few times for my videos.  Some it works great, some it makes the video appear "wavy" and is just as distracting!

Kevin  It depends on the length of the individual clip - if it is too long it will look like that

I too have had a few isssues with the stablization in YouTube. I have found that the iMovie stablization works a bit better for my application - as Kevin says "too wavy" and distorted. But then, it must work as I've not seen issues with your videos.
