Don't be Social on Facebook while Negotiating a Sale or Purchase

Reblogger
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams First Coast Realty - The Marro Team

This is great information. On our last personal home sale, we used information posted on Facebook and My Space to decide to turn down an offer that was weak in the financials.

You just never know how what you say can be used against you.

Don't be Social on Facebook while Negotiating a Sale or Purchase

FacebookFacebook is a social outlet for all the big events in your life, including the fact you have your house for sale and buying a property.

If you are a savvy Real Estate agent, you can find the buyers or sellers (whichever client you are NOT representing) and see what they are saying about the transaction!     Have you reminded your clients to zip it!    Remaining silent on Facebook or any other social media is part of my reminders, along with no purchasing prior to signing, for buyers.

DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE NEGOTIATION ON THE INTERNET!     I know it is difficult not to get excited tell your friends via Facebook, but PLEASE CONTAIN YOURSELF.

I have visited the agent's site while during negotiations, and seen comments made --- not good for your clients!

It is exciting buying a house, negotiating the sale, but it is even more fun to post AFTER you closed on that beautiful home.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that searches Facebook and Twitter and watches out for signs of what a buyers or sellers true intentions are.

When will people learn?  You would think this would be obvious....but too often people share way more than they should share!

I never mention names on FB, but a lot of agents do.

Well, it is a personal choice. Yet, it is always better to ask permission if you feel that you must shout on Twitter/FB/etc. : ''Congrats Mr. and Mr. X with your successful purchase of the home at {address}. ''Too much information for public...
