Squirrels and Birds so Enjoyable at Southern California Beaches

Yesterday, we went to the beach and drove from Newport Beach, to Laguna Beach and then ended up at Doheny Beach in Dana Point.

While walking down the sidewalk near the breakwaters, I spotted a curious white squirrel. It was peeping its head out of the rocks so I threw an orange slice and some bread crust. While this white squirrel was sitting there eating it, the birds showed up and a second squirrel appeared. Sorry guys, but that is all I have.

It was such a beautiful and relaxing place to visit so I plan to go back soon. I will make sure to take more orange and apple slices and maybe some nuts too.

Beachgoers were out sailing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The weather was sunny and warm and I thought what a lovely place to live or just to visit. The sunrise was spectacular and there was lots of wildlife and beautiful flowering trees and shrubs.

Hi Kristin-There isn't much a squirrel or a crow won't eat. We don't have white ones around here but I have seen them. Funny looking for sure. If you visit there often and bring food you will have LOTS of visitors. Great photos.

Hi Sharon,

I have never seen a white squirrel so I was really excited. They were so cute and the birds sure don't miss anything as they were there in a hot second as you can see the crow was eating the bread. It is cute how they interact together and get along.

Hi Dee,

You are so right. I was just reading that the white squirrels are very rare in the US. I was excited when I saw it but had no idea why. Now I know they are few and far between.

Hi Kristin, first time I heard of white squirrel, is it albino? I like the bird with red and black beak.

Hi Kwee, I have been researching these white squirrels and only the albino squirrels have pink eyes and this little guy/gal has black eyes. I am going to find out more about them and plan to go visit them again in the next couple of weeksw. Thanks for stopping. The birds were so funny and boy they showed up in about 1 minutes or less. What a bunch of moochers.

Yes I have been reading about the white squirrels today as I did not realize how rare they are. A place called Brevard, NC is famous for their whie squirrels. I found it was not an albino squirrel and has a really long tail but not a big fluffy one. I found it interesting. The one thing I noticed abbot squirrels is that they blend in to their environment and makes it so hard to spot and photograph. Mother Nature gives them the uncanny ability to camouflage themselves.

Hi Than,

I agree with you but I think the wildlife at the beaches love to mooch off the tourist for goodies. I am going to take some nuts plus some apple and orange slices the next time I go and try to find my white squirrel again. I have been reading they are extremely rare.

Hi Steve, Thanks for the honor of featuring this post in your group "Speechless Sundays". I did not know how special and rare these little guys are and some cities like Brevden NC hold them up as the celebrity motto of their city.

Hi Karen, I just wanted to comment on the white squirrels. They are very rare and when I took their pictures, I did not know how lucky I was. Very few in the US. Thanks for stopping s and have a great Sunday.
