I have been MeMe'd

By
Home Stager with Gomes Design

I was contacted by Kimberely Uksik, that it was my turn.

I was born in Bermuda in 65'. That puts me over 40, More like almost 43. I Left when I was 3, because my parents made me.  I do go and visit when I can.  I have lived a city life in Toronto and Brantford and now live a country life in the small hamlet of Coldstream just outside of London, Ontario. I have lived here for 16 years raising my 4 kids ages 12 - 16.  Oh and my other big kid my husband Dave of 21 years.  How time flies.  We actually missed number 20. We were reminded by my friend 2 days later as a belated happy anniversay.  We said we wouldn't do that again and it happened for the 21st.

We have a calico cat named Caley (very creative name) we aquired her through the stray cat rules.  'If you feed her you keep her'. As the animal control says.  My husband did not listen to meee. He fed her pork chops and mashed potatoes.  She was starving. We also have a beautiful black lab, Lexi.  I spend more time vacumming her black hair from my white floors then I do working.

I have studied business, interior design and staging. I started my business 1 year ago.  I have worked in the health care system as a Unit clerk, Administrative Assistant and presently am the office manager of my husband medical practice. I am also Property manager and owner of rental properties. I just starting teaching at Fanshawe College in the Health Care Office Professional program.

I enjoy volunteering.  I am trying to slow down this aspect as I have volunteered at the church and the childrens schools almost full time for the last 14 years.  My kids use to ask me if I was getting paid by the school becuase I spent so much time there.

I enjoy travelling and so do my kids.  You should here some of the plans they come up with.  I love to cook and enjoy attending cooking classes. I have always enjoyed playing sports in particular tennis but can't do that anymore as I tore a ligament and won't be able to play even if I have surgery.  Which I post poned due to the fact there was a I year recoup, no driving for 2 months.  I have 4 kids - please. Oh the outcome  was 50/ 50.  The 2 months no driving was scary.

I really love design and staging.  I get such enjoyment from this work.  I am actively marketing and networking, so that when my kids start to find their own paths (in the very near future), I will have a steady business.  (at least I hope so).

I think I have bored you enough, so I will end here.

Isabel ~ You are quite the busy lady!  For 4 kids, being married over 20 years, and so much on your plate you look very relaxed in your picture.  I wonder what it would be like to live in Bermuda. . .  (*sigh* just dreaming!).

Bored? No...more like exhausted from hearing all that you have accomplished! I used to have a black Lab named Skye and white tile floors, so I know what that's like! Thanks for sharing!!!

Thanks for the Meme, Isabel-it was fun to read.  We have a chocolate lab named Maggie & she is quite a member of the family.  I came from a family of four siblings, close in age like yours- so I have an idea of the hectic family life. Takes alot of food now that they are teenagers, huh? Best wishes.

Wow Isabel,

You are such a busy lady!  It was so great to finally meet you at the Round Table last Saturday.  Maybe we can meet up at IDS in February.

Isabel, It was nice to meet you at the Roundtable. I enjoyed reading your meme and I too can relate about the dog hair. Everything I have is dark and my Lab Rudy is blond as is my cat. Next time it would be good to co-ordinate furniture to pet fur colour.  Good luck building your business.

Isabel ~ I am amazed at how many things we have in common... very close in age, years married, and also have teenagers (only 2 though).  We also now have a stray as part of our family along with 2 yellow labs (I feel your pain when it comes to the amount of hair they shed).  Although in a different industry, I have a background working as an Administrative Asst. and Office Manager and am currently a property manager and owner or rental properties as well.  Crazy, and a little scary, huh?!  You have more energy than I though... teaching, volunteering and so much more.  Thanks for sharing your meme - its nice to know there are other who love our jobs (mom, wife, laundry service and stager) as much as I do!

Isabel,

Enjoyed your MeMe!  Are you kidding about being 43? Cause I'm thinking you meant to write 34....but then the married for 21, kids....yeah, I guess you did your math right! Thanks for sharing.  I'll have to go back and see what else you've written!

All the best,

Audrey
