We’ve all heard the cry from many members of our industry.  The cry of “that’s not fair.”  Nothing in this business is fair.  It’s a survival of the fittest business.  It’s a business that demands that you stay on the wheel and keep running.

There are many who have not boarded that wheel yet and they are seasoned agents.  They are standing on the passenger plank watching the wheel go round by the force of the agent in motion.  It’s an intimidating sight for many agents.

Once you are on that wheel, there is no slowing down.  To slow is to lose; to slow is to interrupt the momentum and that always leads to a loss in production.  This is a business of commitment and dedication.  It’s a promise that one makes to him/herself to be faithfully responsible to exert the effort needed to compete with the best.  It’s a combination of education, dedication and experience that provides you with the energy to continue to stay on that wheel.  You don’t want to miss that run!!

Wonder how that notion of "being fair" ever got started as it pertains to life? ... As we grow up we control what happens to us. If we don't make it happen, it is not going to happen!! No one else is responsible for our own actions.

This is a fast paced industry and only the fittest will survive.  We need to stay in motion and up with the trends.

Barbara: I tend to do everything like that including tennis (which I just took up again). When I get off that wheel, I feel guilty. I actually PLAN how to get off that wheel for a day or two. But I love my life that way.

Great post Barbara, you're right there is nothing fair about life or real estate. What's the old sports saying "the harder I work during the week the luckier I get on game day".

Barbara, so evident with seasoned agents just waiting & complaining for business coming to them...they need to get out a push some!

Ginny..... there are too many seasoned agents who are out of business because no one is handing it to them.

Your post is great. I have patience listing about what is not fair. No matter what business you are in, if the kitchen is too hot for you, then get out. It will only mean more opportunity for the rest of us.

GOOD MORNING BARBARA!  Well this is right up my alley - anything with "run" in it suits me fine! There isn't much in life that is fair - you gotta just get on and run with it no matter what comes your way.  And in this industry - the fittest do survive!

Terrific post Barbara, many get into real estate so they can just show a house and collect a big check.  Too bad there is a lot more to it than that.
