2012 Stamford Lights Festival in Stamford, CT!

I love living in Stamford because there is always something to do. This weekend is the 2012 Stamford Lights Festival! This festival showcases the neighborhoods of Stamford and there are a ton of events happening!

 

Thursday, September 20

The festival kicks off at 8:00 pm on Thursday night with a concert at the Palace Theatre by Earth Wind & Fire. Tickets


Friday, September 21

 The Avon Theatre is showing “The Master” and having a special pre-show reception hosted by Rizzuto’s. The reception starts at 6:30pm and the movie starts at 7:30pm.


Saturday, September 22

Saturday is jam packed with events. One is the 2012 Waterside Diversity Fest. This event takes place at John Boccuzzi Park on Southfield Avenue and goes from noon to 6pm. Some of the activities at the Waterside Diversity Fest include: kayaking and paddle boarding, live bands, health and wellness screenings, arts & crafts, face painting, story telling, food, and more! Stop by John Boccuzzi Park to check it all out! 

Another event on Saturday September 22 is day 1 of Arts & Crafts on Bedford. This annual event welcomes over 100 craft and artisan vendors! Bedford Street in Stamford will be closed for this event, which runs from 12pm-8:30pm on Saturday.

 The first annual Harbor Point Block Party takes place Saturday from 4pm-8pm. There will be live music, local food specials, and more.

 The Lighting Up Ceremony will take place at 8:00 pm on Saturday night at the north entrance of the transportation center. This is the debut of a system of LED lights at the Stamford train station.


 Sunday, September 23

 Thunder on the Sound starts at 8:30 on Sunday morning at the commuter parking lot off the Merritt Parkway exit 35. Join Mayor Mike Pavia of Stamford, Connecticut as he rides in the 3rd Annual Motorcycle Ride for Charity. Tickets

 The East Side International Food Festival is also on Sunday, from 12:00 pm- 3:00 pm. This food festival takes place at Domus Field at 83 Lockwood Avenue. Sample cuisine from Stamford’s east side restaurants with their low cost tasting plates – ranging from $2 to $5! 

Day 2 of Arts & Crafts on Bedford is on Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
