AR member Jeff Dowler posted a few days ago about the price of gasoline in Encinitas, CA. I remembered searching the net a while ago and found a few good resources for local gas prices. Check out:
www.Gasbuddy.com and Gasprices.Mapquest.com. Both will provide you with a local map with prices overlaid on the map. Gasbuddy.com also has a few other interesting features including something called a USA National Gas Temperature Map which shows counties across the USA color-coded according to their relative gas price. There's a Historical Price Chart going back to April of 2002, when we were paying the exorbatant price of $1.44/gal in the US and $2.46 in Canada. You can even get this website on your mobile device at GasBuddyToGo.com.
The mapquest site is even searchable by grade or type of gas. Looking for Regular in Reading, Mid-Grade in Midland or Premium in Peoria? Diesel in Denver? You can even search for Bio-diesel, Electric, Hydrogen and the alphabet soup of LNG, LPG, CNG and E-85.
Just for comparison, here are a few prices around the globe: Britain $2.05/liter or $7.90/gal, Norway $2.22/ltr or $8.44/gal, Saudi Arabia 12¢/ltr or 46¢/gal, Iran 11¢/ltr or 42¢/gal and poor Venezula at 3¢/ltr or 11¢/gal!!! Now, don't you feel better about paying $3.50 per gallon?
