Rockville Centre Drug Take Back Day

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Century 21 Sherlock Homes

The Rockville Centre Police Department is partnering with the US Drug Enforcement Admin. to sponsor a prescription Drug take back day.  It is set for Saturday, September 29th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rockville Centre Police headquarters at 34 Maple Avenue, Rockville Centre NY.

They will be collecting potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription medication for safe disposal.  This will be free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Many medication left in cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse and many people do not know how to properly dispose of unused medicines.  Flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away are both potential safety and health hazards.

Wish there were more of these events throughout the Country, Liz.  It's so important to dispose of no longer necessary or expired medications properly.

Liz, This is a great idea to educate everyone of the harm they could potentially create for the environment by improper disposal.

Liz~ Our police department will be participating in this national event.  It's a great idea.  I never know what to do with outdated prescriptions and over the counter drugs.

Liz this is great! Wish we knew of one here. It's also safer to make sure it doesn't get into the wrong hands as well. Excellent event.

Liz - this is such a worthy cause b/c it's reported that many teens get hooked on drugs from their own medicine cabinets. Moreover, pain medication addiction has never been higher and is now at epic proportions. I don't take or keep any pain meds in my home - I learned my lesson with alcohol 15 years ago. Haven't had a drink since;)
