Welcome Home Endeavour!

After its arrival from Florida yesterday, the space shuttle Endeavour made a tour today from Palmdale(in Los Angeles) North to the Central Valley onto Sacramento around the Bay Area with a salute to the Golden Gate Bridge and back South along our beautiful coast and then entered Los Angeles County. Malibu, the Getty Center, the Griffith Observatory, Universal Studios/City, Long Beach Aquarium and the Queen Mary, Pasadena and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and onto Disneyland before heading back to Los Angeles International Airport -- it was quite the sight.

I saw Endeavour along the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena and while my photos show a beautiful sky -- they do not compare with my friend’s short video as it circled above us coming in from the Rose Bowl. It was so great as it passed one more time and the crowd on the bridge cheered!

In a few weeks, Endeavour will be at home at the California Science Center in Los Angeles.

Michael I was at LAX in the process of boarding on Jet Blue to Boston around 11:50am and we saw the same did not have time to video it. Thanks for the memories:))

Michael, Diane wanted me to mention also that when we were on the plane we could not take off until Endeavor landed and we had the pleasure of seeing it as it was coming in to land from our plane:)

Roger - news reports throughout the day told of crowds small and large that gathered throughout the areas of the flyover -- a great community spirit event for sure.

Hi Michael - Thanks for posting the video. I saw one of the shuttles sitting on a 747 on a runway one time, but never had a chance to see it in the air.

Watching a shuttle aloft on the back of a 747 is an image of majestic grace. I am as are many dismayed and saddened by it's too early retirement. You are fortunate to have it near your home.

Jeffrey -- you are right -- amazing is certainly a good description.

Dick -- it was pretty incredible -- it was definitely great to see it with a crowd.

Dale -- beginning around October 12, the Endeavour will make its way from LAX to its new home near USC at a pace of about two miles per hour --- should be interesting and I'm sure the streets will be lined by many enthusiastic people along the way to its new home.

Joy -- mixed emotions for sure.
