In 1793, Port Wentworth was the birthplace to Eli Whitney's cotton gin. It was incorporated in 1957. Now, it is growing and expanding seemlessly without bounds. Currently there are more than 3200 residence. Port Wentworth is located about eleven miles northwest of historic Savannah. It is about 28 square miles in size. Interstate 95, basically, divides Pooler and Port Wentworth. If you take a right off an I-95 exit, you are in Port Wentworth. Port Wentworth is the first Georgia off I-95 when heading South and the last exit when heading away from the low country.
There are plenty of hotels and motels for every budget. And there are several new subdivision that are being buit in Port Wentworth. There is the Newport Subdivision, which is currently in phase 3. It is located along highway 30 off of exit 109 on I-95. Right down the road, the Lakeshore Subdivision is being built. And also off exit 109, Rice Hope is being built off of highway 21.
