Octoberfest - Denver CO - September 2012
The 43rd Annual Oktoberfest celebration started this past weekend in Denver's Ballpark Neighborhood and still have another weekend to enjoy the fun! This event usually attracts 350,000 over the 6-day festival, celebrating the German heritage where you will enjoy food and fun for all ages.
WHERE: Between 20th & 22nd on Larimer St.
WHEN: 9/28, 9/29 & 9/30
HOURS: Fridays-5pm-2am Saturdays-10am-2am Sundays - 10am to 5pm
German and Rock bands will be the featured throughout the festival and you can check out the bands here.
History of Oktoberfest -
October 12,1810 Celebrating the wedding of Bavaria's Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen and they invited common people to the festivities held over 5 days. There were 40,000 that attended the celebrations and became a yearly party.
History of Denver's Oktoberfest -
Freda & Hertha Thomas owned two shops on Larimer Square downtown and in 1969 decided to honor their heritage and displayed a key of Coors beer, served pretzels and white radishes. These celebrations continued at 14th & Larimer until 2007, where the Denver celebrations moved to the Ballpark Neighborhood.
