Mobile Marketing? You May Already Be Doing It!

By
Managing Real Estate Broker with Coldwell Banker Bain

Welcome, and thanks for taking a look at the next installment in a series of blogs by Coldwell Banker Bain Principal Managing Brokers.  I am George Roth, Principal Managing Broker of the Coldwell Banker Bain Anacortes office.

When I was approached about writing for this blog, I was asked to dedicate my story to mobile marketing.  My first reaction was that I didn’t think I was an expert at mobile marketing, but as I began to write down some notes, I quickly realized something – we already ARE doing mobile marketing – and quite a bit of it!  Here’s what I found:

What is “mobile marketing” anyway?  Well, after some research, I’ve found that it is really all kinds of things to all kinds of people.  Whether it’s outbound texting to update clients, or leads coming in from an online partner, mobile marketing has many faces.  Basically, whenever you’re viewing, sending or receiving something related to real estate from your mobile device, you’re probably doing mobile marketing.

Here, I am going to describe the various ways we use mobile marketing in our company, and at my office.  Some of you may be using these as well:

Top Producer (http://www.topproducer.com/campus/) – This Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program is probably the most beneficial in terms of what it can do on your mobile device.  Most importantly, your entire contact database is with you wherever you go.  You can manage your sales pipeline, task list and property list.  New to Top Producer mobile is contextual coaching, which helps guide you through lead management and tracking.  Adding leads right on the spot using your mobile device is very helpful.

Top Producer also works with Realtor.com, and will automatically import Realtor.com leads right into your CRM system!

I’ve used Top Producer for years, and even have our office support team using it.  Several brokers in our office are migrating their systems over to Top Producer.

Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS) – A terrific mobile application by the NWMLS provides all your MLS information wherever you are, and can be very helpful when you need to verify an address or call a listing agent.  HomeSpotter is a great feature that provides on-the-spot information through ability to view listings near you using your mobile device’s GPS.  I’ve used this now multiple times and it never ceases to impress people how fast I actually get the information for them!

If you are a member of the NWMLS, here is a link to the mobile information -

                          (non-members can’t access this – sorry!)

If you’re in Washington State, you need to get this phone application from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store!  If you’re not in the Northwest, your MLS service may already offer this feature.  Be sure to look into it!

Coldwell Banker Bain has its own mobile application and provides mobile websites branded for all of our brokers.  The main entry screen for mine, GeorgeRoth.CBBain.com, is pictured here.

We use QR Codes  to lead customers to it through advertising, listing fliers, marketing pieces, and websites.  It provides instant client-view listing information and pictures for homes they are near using their mobile device’s GPS.  It also directs inquiries to me so I can ensure they get great service.  I’m thrilled with CBBain’s efforts in ‘mobilizing’ our team!

Speaking of QR Codes, if you aren’t using them, you should.  Popularity has skyrocketed, and it’s so easy once you’ve used them once or twice.

Use the codes on everything from your personal broker website to websites for your individual listings.

Lastly, texting.  This has become one of the best ways to get across quick information to and from clients on appointments and updates.  It has become standard between brokers!  (And of course follow up confirmation on e-mail.)

What texting accomplishes is that, clients are texting back and forth with my team now on almost every transaction, creating more timely appointments and getting info to them quickly.

So, my story ends well.  I’m proud to say we are immersed in mobile marketing.  And I hope these tips help you on your way to finding what works for you!  And if you have tips you would like to share here, please comment below.  We look forward to hearing from you!
