Visit North Georgia (or a forest near you) on National Public Lands Day
The Forest Service is waiving standard amenity fees on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in recognition of National Public Lands Day at hundreds of recreation sites across the nation.
Volunteers all over the country will provide assistance in the nation's largest, hands-on volunteer effort to improve America's public lands.
Last year, volunteers built an estimated 1,500 miles of trails, planted around 100,000 trees, shrubs & other native plants and removed some 500 tons of trash from recreation sites.
If you are interested in participating in the national forest areas of Blairsville, GA or a forest that is closer to your home, you can click on the public lands day site to find a location nearby or go to the rec.gov website more more information.
Let's help the Forest Service in their mission to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the nation's forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations.
