So I'm a Laveen resident, having lived here for the last ten years, as well as worked in the Laveen area as a realtor. One thing that I've enjoyed is the many outdoor activities in that time in Laveen, and today I'd like to share one of my activities with you.
Woke up this morning, of course happy to have been given another day to enjoy this desert paradise we live in, Laveen. So, I've been trying to get myself in shape, so today is my running day. This is truly one of the great things about living in Laveen, there is so many places that you can exercise in the outdoors. I've never been a big fan of jogging on side walks, or even on pavement because the impact of the hard surface does not seem to agree with my feet and knees. But here in Laveen, we have literally MILES of great running places that are soft surface. Today I left my home area, South of the Carver foothills in Laveen, and headed along the Salt River Project canal- nice soft surface. Ran for about 1 mile along the canal then turned north and went toward the Carver foothill. There are several trails one can take, but I favor the one on the East end of the foothill, head up to the top of the hill and then jog the ridgeline. This is beautiful, as you can see pretty much the entire Laveen area, also views going into Phoenix, Glendale....etc. Can even see the Cardinal Stadium. So, ran the ridgeline from about 36 ave to 45 ave, then headed South down the hill back to Carver road. In all this run took me about 45 minutes, and it was AMAZING. Felt little sluggish to start, but once you get to the top and see out over the Valley you tend to forget and get lost in the experience.
I've taken many different trails over the years, and I still have not taken them all. Laveen has tons to offer the outdoor enthusiast, and not jogging alone.
