I don't need to go back in there, I'm done!

This is a real estate post, with a cloaking device! So read on.....My wife is pregnant and about to give birth in eight weeks. My 4 year old has been having a lot of fun looking at her belly and asking questions.

Last night he remarked "Mommy, I don't need to go back in there, I'm done!" He then turned to me and said "Daddy, I'm not going in there, I'm done!" It made for a few laughs. I then asked him, "Well, when your brother comes out, there might be room, do you want to go back in then?" "No, I don't! I can't! I don't want to!" The proposition that one could return to the womb was the vehicle on which the humor turned. Of course he couldn't go back.

Now for the real estate part. Whatever and however you term the preceding years and erstwhile markets, they're done, they're not coming back. A new baby's on the way, and in much the same way as a live birth, we can't quite be certain of how it's going to look. We just know it will be new and different.

So as we deal with the present, and look to the future with new laws, new lending requirements and new horizons, let's try to put a positive spin on it. It's a fact and we have to find coping mechanisms and survival skills. I'm sure we'll all love this baby, no matter what.

They may not be coming back, but we can always count on another way coming our way. I agree that its not about pining for what has already come and gone. Those of us that are left to dust ourselves off just need to keep learning the lesson that change happens and we need to be able to deal with it.

Good luck with the new baby! Once your children outnumber you, it is a whole new ball game. So enjoy the stalemate till you decide to have the net one!

Matt, we all have to deal with what actually is, not what used to be.  Best wishes to your family!

ROBERT:

I'm already outnumbered 2-1.  I've surrendered to their charms! We have a two year old as well.  Looking for lots of wisdom when she can speak! Thank you all!

Matt, Congratualtions!  I love the simple thoughts of a child...  And, yes, we must adapt in the real estate biz... Technology, Internet, MLS, texting, blogging...  There is NO going back!  Nice post!
