Wordless Wednesday - New Hood River Wildfire

A new wildfire started just outside Hood River last night, along Highway 84 and has grown to over 50 acres. The fire is on very steep terrain making an air assault necessary. Wednesday afternoon, all outdoor school sports were cancelled due to poor air quality throughout the entire Hood River Valley. Besides thick smoke which seems stuck in the valley, ash is floating through the air. My asthma is certainly not enjoying the smoke as I wheeze my way through the afternoon. I took this shot this morning along Highway 84. It has gotten much worse since then!

As of Friday morning the fire is not yet out, but is considered to be contained. However, smoke continues to flow into the valley, then sit there, stagnant. All outdoor activities are cancelled and windows ordered closed. It's pretty bad for those of us with asthma.
