Gators Café and Saloon is located at 12754 Kingfish Drive in Treasure Island, FL 33706. Gators has been open and the place to go to on John’s Pass for over 20 years. As the name already indicates, the Gators atmosphere is prominent throughout – don’t go during a Gator game without the appropriate attire, or you’ll be immediately identified as a tourist! Gators is located across from John’s Pass Boardwalk area, and offers great food and drinks while watching the boats pass by, or a beautiful sunset in the evening. They are serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night menus, the prices are reasonable and the menu offers a wide selection of your typical sports bar type food like burgers, to typical beach/waterfront items like grilled grouper. And, naturally, don’t forget the Gator bites! They have a detailed website with a complete menu and a list of upcoming events, which include live bands and DJ's on weekends.
I like going to Gators by boat because service is consistently good, they have lots of TV’s all over the place and show all major sports events. Since Gators is so big, finding seating is normally not a problem.
Depending on the weather and time of the day, going to Gators by boat can be tricky, boaters often have to deal with a strong current going in or out of John’s Pass. John’s Pass has a high volume of boating traffic, and the wakes from boats passing by Gators create choppy water even if the weather is fair and the water otherwise calm. When we have been to Gators the last few times, on weekends or evenings, there has always been a Dockmaster present, which is a huge help.
I would recommend Gators Café and Saloon on the Pass in Treasure Island for inexperienced boaters on days when the weather is fair and the water has only a low to very moderate chop. When the water is rougher, I would recommend Gators to experienced boaters who have a 2nd adult on board, who can help with tying up the boat.
As usual, stay safe, and happy boating!
