http://www.foystoblacktailtrails.org is the web site for some awesome trails in Kalispell. Had a nice morning horse ride there today. Used Strava Run app on my iPhone, see ride below. We rode to the Foys Lake overlook. This complex is 5 min. from Kalispell and the trails are on state, federal and purchased private land. A great resource for summer recreation and x-country skiing in the winter. The "elevation" below is the gain. We start at 3100'. It is quite a climb and workout for the horses so don't do a lot of trotting, then it is slow and cautious coming back down. Great view from the Foys lookout at the top of the trail we rode. Hardly ever see another person. Happened upon an acquaintance walking the hill with his dog this morning.
