We are looking for pros to join us and become our core team in a Westchester County small business.
HELP US FIND GOOD HELP -- yeah, EMPLOYEES -- FOR OUR SMALL, FAMILY OWNED LOCAL BUSINESS!
Many of us were raised differently, but it seems that we 60s and 70s "kids" in the lower HUD got out in life with an actual work ethic. What I mean is that people we've hired -- some even close to us in age as 40-somethings -- do not take their jobs, or their noted desperation to work for our "2nd responder company" seriously.
Don't even get me started on the 80's and 90's babies, with H.S., GEDs, or even some college, but could not find Union or White Collar jobs and came to us as "Production Technicians" near Tuckahoe NY 10707. Most we've hired don't seem to understand that they work with and for business owners -- AND themselves. If our rather young company does well, they:
1) Get bonuses
2) Get raises based on MERIT, or hard work, and after passing certifications and some tests
3) Feed and shelter themselves and/or their families
4) Get medical and other benefits worth 1000s!
Is there a disconnect regionally (in the Tri-state area) on what it takes to get, keep and excel in a job, or do most Westchester County "Next Gen's" just think they're entitled? Do they understand that the economy is the worst in a few decades and that college grads are flipping burgers at fast food joints?!
My husband and Dad, Bob Briggs (to the right), are from Westchester County & New York, respectively. They both work hard -- often 7 days per week -- in their careers. Dad is 83 years old now and is still writing and performing at venues like The Players Club in NYC. Forrest and I still work long hours at our startup, especially this week, after starting over in our 40s, due to the economic downturn.
It's Friday night and we're still here catching up on work and ActiveRain of course...AND, we have flooded homes to go help with tomorrow!
Ours is not the funnest business, cleaning fire and water damaged homes and businesses, or doing mold removal. But we are all highly trained, background checked and certified professionals -- a source of pride. Of course, we also clean sewage out of properties and handle hoarding, estate and crime scene cleanups. But, we help people and are sort of "2nd responders," after fire and/or police departments leave a disaster.
We're on speed dial for hundreds of local home and business owners with fire or water damages in Westchester County. Also, we're who they rely on for scheduled, or emergency carpet cleaning and odor control...we have pets too! I've been on fire cleanups, mold remediations spraying mold killers (Sporicidin) in masks and flooding from Hurricanes, like Irene...and I'm an old lady! Why can't these young pups hold a job, enjoy the paycheck and bennies and let us promote them and help them mature on merit?
Forrest and I have passed some of the young(er) men and women on our crews by on site, at times, because we're used to working fast, preventing more damage and just "get 'er done!" That's what we say out West, where I'm from. Perhaps it's because we were both raised by single moms and were taught hard work and loyalty!
Either way, if anyone knows of Westchester residents who
- want / need a job and leave the attitude at home and bring loyalty and hard work to our office,
- can get here on time,
- have a car and a clean driving record,
- can pass a background check
- can lift 50 to 75 pounds up about 3 - 4 feet,
- NOT slow us down, or to quote Trump, "You're FIRED!"
....they can fax a letter / note and their resume' to us at: 914-699-5183. Or, they can send them to us at: info@servprosmv.com.
No calls please, we'll DQ them! Have to keep the lines open for wild storms like the one this morning -- out of the blue. Our shop took on water and our phones were off the hook. Wow!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Cheers,
~ Hillary
