It's the Art of the Deal

Have you ever worked with and agent who thinks they are a sales person?  A agent who thinks it is about them?   A agent who thinks its about getting  their client the best deal?  Well if you have...then you know how hard it is to complete a transaction with that agent.  Here's to understanding the the art of the putting the transaction together so everyone has a closing!!

I'm not sure why real estate agents are called sales people.  Maybe you can help me out with that one?  What we really do is help Buyers and Sellers work through the maze of contingencies in the contracts.  Yes, we also help work through the art of negotiating the final Purchase Price.  In my 30 years of helping buyers and sellers it still amazes me when we let $500.00 or 1,000.00 stop a transaction.  It's about the final result....not who got the best end of that point. It takes compromise to get to the end.  Compromise on both sides.  Still don't understand why we are called sales agents?

Would you Please help me out?  Is it about getting the best deal for your client?  Is it about "winning" each point?  Is it about YOU as the agent?  Here's what I think.  It's about helping all parties get to the closing table.  It's about the buyer and seller not you! You got to Listen.  Then help both parties to set their emotions aside and reach a compromise... that reaches the final Goal....  A closing.

Tell what you think?  I've worked with agent who wanted to win the battle not the war. It's about The Art of the Deal!!

I guess I don't equate being a salesperson with being pushy and having to get your way.  We are in a sales business.  100% commission proves that.  But like all sales jobs, in my view having had many, our primary job is to find people that need us, and help fulfill their needs.
