Speechless Sunday - Hike!

This is our son, Ben #57, front left, at his football game yesterday. Ben is a lineman on his 5th and 6th grade Hood River football team and yesterday he was blocking a guy nearly twice his size (what do they feed that boy?!). Although Ben's team lost yesterday's game to White Salmon, they fought hard and played a good game, so we're endlessly proud of our team's hard work.

Wow Gretchen, that is a huge size difference. Here they form teams bases on weight so at least they are playing against players close to their own size!

HI Gretchen, I love fall sports. Best time of the year to be out plus you are able to spend some quality family time together.

Looks like Ben is doing a great job even if it's not a level playing field, Gretchen.

Hi Gretchen,  thanks for sharing photo of your son's football game.  Sounds like David & Goliath size-wise.  I like DeeDee's suggestion to form teams based on weight rather than age.  However, in the real world there are differences and we need to learn how to deal with it.  Good luck to your son.

Ben is the 2nd or 3rd biggest player on his team too.  Ben had to resort to his quickness to make up the size difference.  Gretchen did not mention it - Ben received the "Stick" of the game meaning he had the best hit; tackled the ball carrier straight up and drove him back.

Great shot. Starting young is good, but help him stay safe. :)
