Chester County Day ™ - A Chester County Tradition
The annual Chester County Day House Tour is the oldest house tour in the nation. This year, on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 10 am to 5 pm,you will experience Chester County's finest examples of original, reclaimed, restored, new and historically significant homes. While you are enjoying "The Day," you will also be supporting The Chester County Hospital in its ongoing mission to bring world-class care close to home. If you love architecture, artistry and antiques, you won't want to miss this premier house tour.
The picture on the right was taken on last year's tour of Oakbourne, an 1804 house outside of West Chester, Pennsylvania.
My plans for the tour each year are the same. On Friday night before the tour, a friend and I attend a power point preview at the Chester County Historical Society at 225 North High Street in West Chester at 6 or 7:30 pm of the homes which will be on the tour the next day. We buy our tickets and circle the properties we especially want to see, because there is no way you can see all of them. There are usually a number of homes to see in the Borough of West Chester, so we can walk around town. Then we get in the car and take off across the countryside. This year, the southwest quadrant of the County will be featured.

We are happy that there is no dress code as in early days, so we can leave our hats and gloves at home! What a great way to support the Chester County Hospital!
