Architecturally Interesting Feng Shui Developments
The principles of Feng Shui are strongly based on the vibrations and cycles of nature. Just about every Feng Shui Expert will tell their clients to infuse the 5 elements (fire, earth, metal, wood, water) into their home, office, building and daily routine because of the immense healing energy that is given from them. We have so many methods of Feng Shui that have developed over the years and now a "new" term and vision has been spreading, dating back from the 1960's. It's called Biophilic Design. This term developed by psychologist Erich Fromm refers to "our biologic need to affiliate with the natural world."
Now, the principles of Feng Shui have been reinforcing this concept for 5,000 years already. So really, this is nothing new, but to those who cringe at the words "Feng Shui," will hear the term "Biophilic Design," as a friendly western definition to what Feng Shui Experts have already been educating others about. Biophilic Design sounds more scientific then metaphysical. To all those architects and designers out there, do not forget source and the true intention for why you are creating buildings and homes using these methods. Money should not be your main motivation, that is a bonus to what you are helping to create with every project. Be sure you have love and compassion with every job.
Large corporations have already jumped aboard this concept such as Google head quarters. They have infused these concepts into their design and layout as to promote the most efficient work environment. Residential locations such as the Trump Towers offer an indoor park to help those escape the rushed world of NYC. Towns and communities are also awaking to this "new" concept of thinking and planning before building, and the list goes on.
2012 is upon us and the message is transformation and change with how we all perceive life. Let's call this another branch off and huge inspiration from the principles of Feng Shui to create a "new" practice, Biophilic Design.
