The group meets every Wednesday morning from 8 to 9 am at Silverton Inn & Suites. Dodie Brockamp, Director of the Silverton Senior Center is the leader for October. 

October Forum Lunch
Friday, October, 12 11:45 – 1:00 Reservations are open now for the luncheon which will feature the candidates for City Council, sponsored by Maps Credit Union. Reservations are due by Oct. 9 or until we reach capacity. Cost is $10 for Chamber members or $15 for non-members. Lunch will be served at 11:45 and the program will begin at 12:00 in the conference room above the Birth Center at Silverton Hospital. 503-873-5615

Time to Sign Up for Shop Hop 
The goal of the Shop Hop is to bring shoppers into your business and introduce them to all you have to offer. Sign up forms for the 10th Annual Silverton Shop Hop are available now at the Chamber office. If you participated last year you should receive a form in the mail.

This year the Shop Hop runs from Nov. 23 to Dec. 11. Cost to participate is a $25 gift certificate for the Grand Prize winner & a second gift certificate or gift valued at $25 for your individual store winner. In addition there is a map printing fee of $25 for members & $40 for non-members. Maps are distributed in Our Town and at participating businesses. Deadline to be included is Wednesday, October 17.

Live Music & Happy Hour Daily in the Fireside Lounge at the Oregon Garden Resort.
Happy Hour specials 3-6 pm daily and live music Sunday-Thursday: 7-10 pm, Friday & Saturday: 9 pm -midnight. 

Scarecrows in the Garden are on display at The Oregon Garden throughout the month of October. Come by to vote for your favorites all month! 

Family Harvest Days are each Saturday at The Oregon Garden, 10 am to 4 pm. Bring your family to enjoy fun, educational harvest activities like gourd bowling, pumpkin painting, learning why leaves change colors, learning about tractors, and more! The event is free with Garden admission, and sponsored by Wave Broadband and Linn Benton Tractor Co. 

Learn about Bee Keeping with Mike Roth at Garden University at The Oregon Garden, Saturday, October 13th at 1 pm. Tickets are free to Garden members, $15 to the public and includes Garden admission. 

Kids will enjoy learning how to make paper during Junior Gardener's Club at The Oregon Garden, Saturday, October 13th at 10am. Tickets are free to Garden members, $5 + Garden admission for the public. 

Wilco sends out an S.O.S
Help us fill our local food bank and support the hungry in our community. Donate 5 cans of non perishable food and Wilco will give you a $5.00 reward gift card to be used on your next purchase. So tell all your fellow merchants and friends and help us stomp out hunger in the community. Wilco also will accept cash donations of any kind for the food bank. Collection barrels are at all Wilco Farm stores; for more information call 503 873 8318. Donations accepted the thru the end of October.

Silverton Fire District Open House
The Silverton Fire District will host its annual Open House on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm at our Main Station located at 819 Rail Way NE. in Silverton. This is a free event open to the public. 
This Open House is a great opportunity for the public to learn about public safety and fire prevention. There will also be an opportunity to meet the firefighters that protect the Silverton Fire District.
This event includes: tours of Fire District facilities and fire engines, and educational opportunities for children. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
This is a fun educational experience that the entire family can enjoy. We hope to see as many citizens attend as possible!

AmeriTitle Idol in Silverton
Wednesday, October 3, 7:00 pm at Mac’s Place – Support SACA (Silverton Area Community Aid) while you enjoy a live-band karaoke competition. $10 cover – 100% of the proceeds go directly to SACA. EVITA - The Musical 
Center Stage presents Oct 5, 6, 12, 13 at 7:30 pm Silverton High School Theatre.
Tickets are $10 and are available at Seven Brides Tap Room, The Purl District, Citizens Bank, Silverton Chamber of Commerce, Our Town, and Uptown Music-Keizer. This show, by the composer of Phantom of the Opera, is currently in revival on Broadway and includes the hit song, "Don't Cry for me Argentina." It is a story of Eva Peron, who was beloved by the people of Argentina, as she rose from a humble beginning to become the wife of the president at age 26. Great DATE NIGHT!

It's Sqeezin' Season at Vitis Ridge
This past weekend, Chardonnay grapes from Eastern Washington arrived marking our official start of Harvest. With little time to rest, the early ripening Marechal Foch grapes here in Silverton are nearly ready to be picked as well. You'll be seeing a bustle of activity as we rush to keep up with the tons and tons of grapes that come in. If you see our doors open, feel free to stop in and watch the amazing processes in creating our Award Wining wines.

First Friday Harvest Celebration
In honor of the 2012 Harvest, we'll be staying open late for October's First Friday, October 5th, until 7 p.m. Come sip our wide array of wines and if all falls into place, you may just get to watch some crushing in action. 

Lunaria Gallery October First Friday Show "Ripped and Hammered"

Ripped - Rebekah Rigsby creates intricate mixed media collage paintings with multiple layers of paint and torn paper. 
Hammered - Emily Start builds hammered metal jewelry with vibrant, colorful stones. Each piece includes distinctive metal ribbons that wrap the stones at the center.

Silverton Sidewalk Shindig
Saturday, October 6 – Enjoy a free, family friendly, non-stop live music jamboree held throughout Historic Downtown Silverton from 10 am until 9 pm. Listen for the sounds of 32 music acts including blues, folk, country western, marimba band, steel drum band and Irish harp all on the streets and in 25 local businesses. The market is open 9-1 every Saturday through October 13 in Town Square Park. The market features produce, plants, flowers, baked goods, coffee, jam & jelly.
