Do Something Nice Day Is October 5- So What Are You Going to Do?

No, once again I have no idea how Do Something Nice Day came about but hello!just like Homemade Cookie Day.. what difference does it make...just celebrate it!

I like “nice”- it’s a very simple and overused word but sometimes no other word seems to work.  And doing something nice for someone can be as simple as the word is itself.

It’s funny but once every 4 years... like now... “niceties” seem to go out the door.  It becomes one against the other and really puts everyone in a bad mood.

I know... you’re busy..too busy to figure out what to do.  It’s not that you’re not nice but you just need some suggestions.  Ok.. here they are:

man helping with dishesHold the door open for someone.

Say “Good Morning” to someone you see but don’t know.

Make coffee or tea for the person who usually gets it for you.

Offer to run an errand for a busy mom or someone ill.

Call someone up and say hello.... speak to them over the phone, not just via email or text.

Knowing so many of you... I’ll bet you do the above every day, but I’d bet if you put your mind to it, you could think of just one more
“nice” thing you could do today.

And if you’d like... how about sharing it with us.

Kathy - I like seeing someone do something nice for someone they do not know. That random act of kindness sparks that kindness in others.

I love this!  Personally, I think that every day should be Do Something Nice Day but this just gives me extra incentive.

Janis- I bet you don't even have to be reminded... you just are!

Gary- same here... but sometimes down here it can really test you.  I can just see you doing something nice everyday without even thinking.

Bobbie- you're so right.  Just like when you're at a sales counter and the cashier has a frown on, if you just give them a nice smile, they'll usually give one right back to you!

BARFF- oh how funny!  You feeling ok?

Frank- you know what they say... listen to your mother!

BLiz- Don't forget Miss Manners ... she's always with you!!!

Joanna- it's funny isn't it.... just be nice!

Tom- those acts are the ones that people always remember!

Kristin- you'll probably do it just because it comes normally to you.

Kathy- And I know you will. Have a Great Friday!

Kathryn- I do as well.  It sure would make a lot of people including ourselves feel good.

Kathy didn't know there was a NICE day!  I for one do lots of 'nice' stuff every day, whether it's a smile at a sales person, a conversation, a joke, all kinds of little things.  Just a way of life! I like NICE day!

I also like the idea of a nice day but happen to think that every day should be a nice day. Life is too short NOT to make every day a nice day!

Kathy, I am sitting here smiling.  Love the reminder that today is 'Nice Day.'  A local school district has that motto in every school lobby.  I think that is a great way to teach kids to be nice every day.

Guess, I will attend birthday party tonight for friend & former co-worker who is turning 65.

Kathy: Very nice post!  It inspired me to actually call a friend of mine and wish him Happy Birthday instead of just writing a birthday post on his Facebook page.  I could tell he really appreciated it, so thanks for helping spread some good karma!  :)

Hi Kathy,

As far as I'm concerned, you can't be nice enough. Everyone should practice being nice on a daily basis. People should play nice in the sandbox, say nice things, be nice and courteous - it doesn't cost a cent. Being nice is a great way to practice the Freedom we are so privileged to have in the U.S.A.
