The Ultimate Smell

One of the most challenging foreclosures we ever conquered had some uphill problems .

It was a mobile home on the edges of Durango Colorado.

The location was in a do as you please neughborhoid down a dirt road off one of the major roads.

skunkIt was on a couple of acres where the previous owner had left strange and different pieces of vehicles.

The house was in various stages of remodeling.  What had been completed was VERY nice!  The rest was an entirely different story.

The real showstopper was obvious the minute we opened the door.

There was a stench that could have gagged a maggot .  Apparently a skunk had taken up residence under the house.

Due to the freshness of the smell we were sure that the source was still in residence.

We called for help from a company called "Critter Getter."

The Getter came out and set the appropriate trap.

The next day he reported that he had caught an alley cat.  Not surprising since he had baited the trap with cat food.

It did take several attempts but eventually he got the skunk and took him far away to relocate him.

With the smell instigator removed we started hiring fumigators and cleaners to get the house to show possible.

The phone began to ring right after the sign went up.  The property was still in rough shape but the bank wanted it gone!

Truth be told we also wanted it gone!  After all, there was a skunk out there somewhere who may have been trying to find his way back home!

I cannot imagine that the smell of skunk would be particularly pleasing to very many buyers. Thank goodness you had it removed!

Now that is a Distressed property.   I haven't had any skunks in any of my listings yet.   I hope I never do.
