Curb Appeal When Selling Your Home

Reblogger Lyn Sims
Real Estate Agent

Curb Appeal is important and cannot be overemphasized when selling your home. It makes a good first impression & it says ALOT about how you actually take care of your overall home.

Don't think that's true? I'm sure we all have neighbors that we can think of where the outside of their home matches the inside - messy, unkept, mis-use of a lawnmower. Some people just don't get it!  Don't you be one of them!

Thanks to Maria Morton from Kansas City on these tips & visual suggestions.

When your home is for sale, one of the most important things you can do is to make the outside look so inviting that buyers want to come inside. That's called 'Curb Appeal.' Good curb appeal

The home pictured on the right, for instance, has an inviting walk leading up to the front door. The owners have chosen blue hydrangeas to draw your eye up the flower-lined walkway. A variety of shrubs and trees add interest to the attractive home. If you were lookng for a home to buy, wouldn't you want to see inside this one?

Curb appeal is something home owners can address as they live in the home - don't wait until you decide to move!

The house itself needs to be well maintained and painted in attractive colors. Fences and driveways are also part of your home's curb appeal.

Flowers, shrubs, trees and lawn are a part of your home's curb appeal that can be improved every year. Just go to your local garden center every couple of weeks to see what plants are in bloom in your area. Add a few as your time and budget permit.

Lyn:  Definitely!  Definitely!  Definitely!  I so agree with your assessment.  How you take care of your home and property speaks volume and tells a story.  Can't even imagine that a seller wouldn't see the connection ... even if only in the temporary ...

Lyn, Curb appeal can make or break the sale because the sale may never start with poor curb appeal.

You cannot over estimate the value of curb appeal. Every property I flip will give the prospective buyer that, WOW. You only have one shot at a first impression.
