If you want me to love you, you've got to give it up, or let me go.

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

Here comes another couple, looking at me.  I've been sitting here for days, as people come and look through me... but they're not staying very long.

I hear comments like "What were they thinking?"

One of the children who ran through me, went room to room asking his parents: "What's that smell?"

I wish that my current owners had made me look nicer, for company.   I feel sad that people are seeing me in this condition.

My foundation is wet, the dog has left odours around me, and the lawn has looked better (I blame the dog for that, too).

My once vibrant paint colours, inside and out, have faded, and I just don't feel as good as I used to, and I think buyers can see that.

And they're leaving... shaking their heads, as they return to their cars with their Realtor.

Heavy sigh ... I just want to be loved... is that so wrong?

Alan - First impressions are important even for houses. And, this poor one needs some help.

Home is where the hearth is.

Gay - now, you know I don't have a sensitive side.

Judi - hits home... very punny.

Janna - that's why we're grateful they can't talk.

Mimi - they do, indeed.

Ginger - you bet it is... but if the house could just communicate with the owners... eh?

Dana - that's the job of a good title.

Evelyn - I think we all have.

Michael - that's what I hear.

Bryan - thank you man.

Alan, this is just so fun and so true! It is amazing that some owners just can't seem to get it together to at least make an attempt at getting a house ready to sell - and the house languishes on the market...hilarious  as usual :)

You know, as I read the comments, it certainly gave me an interesting marketing idea. While hardly anyone  HAS a tape recorder these days, imagine a DVD left in the player, TV on, with a note on pushing play.

Have it be a third party voice that talks like the house, and points out features. Instead of little cards, the "house" tells you what you should look at.

Hmmm, what an idea.

And Alan, great way to look at it, and yes, Lenn is always GREAT for a GREAT comment!

We have all heard it before...if these walls could only talk...well they can! Can sellers listen?

Love it! What a great post and terrific perspective.  It reminded me of a recent comment of mine "I'm so happy for this house that you found each other"...! Now sellers.... LISTEN!  :-)

Houses become animate when they have issues - the issues can speak volumes and it's only a good thing if the sellers are listening and do something about it.

The listing agent needs to stop being so co-dependent and apply some tough love to those clients, the house would appreciate some intervention.

A very clever way of presenting the negative side of a home in less than showing condition, for whatever reason. I have heard buyers comment, in certain homes, that they could tell the home was well loved...or not.

Home is where the hearth is.

Jeff - and when we find homes that aren't "well loved", we wonder what systems have been neglected.

Spectrum Group - you're welcome.
