As the model minority, Chinese Americans are often referred to as the forgotten minority. In fact, Asian Americans, which include Chinese Americans, although the fastest growing ethnic population in the United States, possess a political strength that has yet to be fully realized. We need to be more engaged in and knowledgeable of the US political process in order to articulate effectively our community’s interests.
You are cordially invited to a serious conversation with Congressman David Price, co-sponsored by the following North Carolina Chinese American community organizations: CAFA, China Star Newspaper, NC CAST, TACAS, Cary Chinese School, and the North Carolina Chinese Business Association (NCCBA).
The objective of this forum is to start a dialogue between Congressman Price and ourselves, on urgent issues facing Chinese American community in North Carolina. Although Congressman Price attended many Chinese community organized events in the past, this event will be a two-way dialogue, allowing us a forum to express our concerns, needs and opinions.
Congressman Price will discuss his role serving North Carolina's Research Triangle which includes Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, and surrounding communities. The Congressman will debrief us on the state and federal politics and processes, major changes and implementations, and what's at stake in terms of minorities in the state and the nation, specifically minorities such as Chinese Americans. He will also discuss the Sino-/NC & U.S. relationship. We will also hear about initiatives that Congressman Price is championing. We will reserve most of the time to hear from you, through a question and answer dialogue.
The event is free to all participants, and registration is required to save your seat. 針對北卡華人社團所關心的話題，北卡三角區的數家華人社團共同組織了一場座談，邀請到北卡州國會議員David Price與公眾對話交流。
身為少數族裔，在美華人常被稱作“被遺忘的少數”。儘管包括華裔在內的亞洲移民在美國增長迅速，但他們的政治能量尚未盡顯。要想有效傳達自己的意願，我們需要更加了解美國的政治，並積極參與。
David Price將向與會者介紹他在北卡三角區的工作職責，州和聯邦的政治體系、工作程序和重大變革及實施步驟，以及事關少數族裔、特別是華裔的問題。同時，他還將討論中美關係面臨的問題，並介紹他正在倡導中的議題。
