Hi, This is Ann from Cardmember Services and other Robo Calls.
Ever find yourself in the middle of something important, your phone rings, or another call beeps in while you are on the line. You peek at the number and don’t recognize it. The area code is from out of the area and you quickly think, “This could be a relo buyer calling on my listing, maybe someone referred me to an out of state friend to buy in this area, I’m expecting a call back from someone, maybe this is that call…”
You stop what you are doing, click over and get that friendly familiar voice, “Hi, this is Ann from card member services…” You quickly utter something and hang up. Returning to what you were doing before. I’ve gone through this too many times, and have googled “Ann from Cardmember services” and come up with millions of hits, so I know I’m not the only one.
I’m on the do not call list, but that doesn’t seem to matter. I’ve started receiving them on my cell phone, a real annoyance when you are with a client. I sat through the pitch once, clicked through to get my credit card rate lowered, and found that I’m speaking to someone in a boiler room, just a call center waiting for unknowing people to give up their personal data with the hope that they might get a lower rate. My fear is that this is just another phishing scam, but I don’t know.
I expect to get calls from Barack Obama, Mitt Romney and most of the candidates running for office, but those will die down after election day, at least until next year. If I never hear from Ann and cardmember services again I would be happy. Ironic thing, between the time I wrote the first draft until I was preparing to post this I got a call...., "Hi this is Rachel from bankcard services...."
Are you getting their calls too? What other robo calls are you receiving that are ignoring the Do Not Call Registry?
