What do you NOT like about Top Producer?

For those of you who are getting all excited to have a chance to bash Top Producer - this is NOT for that purpose. General "I hate Top Producer" comments will be deleted as quickly as they are posted.

I am doing some research. For those of you who have used, or are using Top Producer, what did/do you NOT like about it? PLEASE be very specific, right down to the click streams if necessary. General comments like "it is too hard to use" or "I don't use enough of it" are not helpful.

I am looking for genuinely helpful specific comments. If you feel it is too hard to use, please give a click by click example of what is too hard. If you feel like you didn't/don't use enough of it, state what you do you use and what you don't use.

I appreciate your time in advance. Thanks!

My biggest issue is not seeing all of the contact's info on one page.  Having to go one place for notes, another for activities due and yet another for activities completed, and another for listings, closings,  way to disjointed.

Gabe - thanks for taking the time. This is exactly the kind of feedback I am looking for. Now I have another question. There are basically only two ways to present the informaiton you want. You either have tabbed info, or scrolling info. The way it is in TP is tabbed. The other is having to scroll, and scroll, and scroll, down the page. Those are really the only two ways to do it. I currently use one that is also tabbed, but it actually shows less information on one page than TP does. Personally I prefer a single click to get to the information I want, than having to scroll down all the time which is the way it is in most Web based CRMs. So, are you saying you would rather have to scroll down to see notes, scroll further to see incomplete activities, scroll further to see completed activities...?

Let me be clear that I didn't ask the intial question just so I could defend the criticisms.

Your complaint is the one I actually hear most often about TP. Now that I have seen the specifics of it, I have to wonder if the origin of the complaint is that it is because most people who make it are not aware of the alternative.

The way TP is laid out, it is literally one click to virtually every bit of information you might want about a contact. Moreover, notes may be the most commonly referenced data and that is on the sreen with no clicks. Additionally without a click you have phone numbers, address, clickable e-mail address, categories, next call/appointment, Pipeline Status, Facebook, and Twitter.

So, finally, my question is, would you prefer scrolling, or is there another way you think it could be better, or does what I said change the way you look at it?

Actually, I would think there would be a way to have collapsing notes and activities so they would only take one line.  That way there would be a good overview of all activities to be done, completed and notes.  Then each activity or note could be expanded to view if need be.  One can get a lot more information in one place like this rather than tabbing back and forth.

So, I would prefer an efficient scrolling method.  Possibly one that is sortable by type of action, date, etc.

You are correct. The typical format for a scrolling screen as opposed to tabs is that each section can be collpased and re-ordered. That said, it still involves more clicks, and scrolling. If you're ever up for it, I would love to get on my screen and demo another product that does what you say you want, and get your reaction.

I do not like the new change to the lead section, TP took all my leads that I had in a system I was comfortable with and had been working with for over 3 years and changed the whole setup. I have to run searches to find out what leads have come in in the last 7 days or last 30 days, before I just used a drop-down menu and choose either new, last 7 days, or last 30 days.

No option, no warning, I am very close to changing to another CRMartyps

Walter - I'm not seeing what you are saying. It seems better organized now with an easy to follow flow. On the home screen your pipeline is displayed and defaults to new leds, but withone click you can see active leads, pending, or closed. You can also selct with a drop down if you want to see just todays's, last weel, or last 30 days.

Gary, I probably just need to take a class. When I enter a contact or a lead, it says SAVE or SAVE and ADD MORE DETAILS - what does that mean? So I always click on ADD MORE DETAILS because I'm not sure what will happen if I just save it. Then there seem to be several places you could go, but I go to the top right box and put in a follow up call.

It would also be nice if there were a feature where you could be emailed a synopsis of your leads to follow for that day - a reminder in your inbox. Maybe that is there but I just haven't figured it out yet.

I know I am not using this to its fullest - where to get some training?

Thanks, Sharon

Hi Sharon,

it sounds like you just need to commit the time to learning it. So many agents get a CRM and then play with it when they get time. If that is what you are doing, you will end up being angry that you wasted money on a CRM. You must commit to it. To do that you must schedule an hour a day for a minimum of two weeks, first thing in the morning, whether you think you have that time or not. I know it sounds over the top but you have to make the time. You can not wait until you get the time.

To answer your question at the top right when you click on help, there is a "Help for this Page", and there is also an "Online Help". That one takes you to the Top Producer Campus. You need to schedule time to spend there and watch videos. Also, don't waste time trying to figure things out when you are stumped. Call support. That's what they are there for.

Best of luck and hope you decide to make a commitment. I can tell you for a fact that if you do, it will pay off in ways you can't even imageine yet.

Thanks, Gary. Have been waiting for your response :) Based on your recommendation, I am going to commit to what you say. I just needed some direction.

We know what that's like. We lost power for over a week in 2004 after Hurricane Charley. Glad you at least have electricity :)
