How many agents out there have listed a historic home? If so, have you truly been an interested, investigative agent? Do you have a passion for these great landmarks of our time? How far have you gone with these listings - both in research and marketing? I would very much like to hear from those who have listed and sold these marvels of architecture. Feel free to blog back, or even email me.

I had always admired this old home in our town. It sat on a large corner, was made of brick, and always looked empty. Well, I was lucky enough to be chosen to list it! That sign went up and the calls started coming in. I had to show that thing all the time!!! I got absolutely sick of showing it because most of the people were curious lookers....not at all interested in buying. I had one real buyer who made a full priced offer and then backed out three days later. Be prepared to work hard if you list a historic home.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, Barbara! Did you market that home anyplace specific, such as HistoricHomes.com? I know I have a beautiful 13,000 square foot mansion built in the 1840's, and we have only had a few showings but they have all been serious buyers. One is still checking into zoning codes for a B&B, but we truly have had no "Nosy Nellies", for which I am thankful for. Now, we have not put a sign out front, as it is priced at 1.4 mil, but I do have an inkling that if we did that, we'd have to throw our phones off of a cliff just for the curious minded folk!

Lorna, I did not market that home through anything. But I did have a sign in the yard which EVERYONE saw. I'm glad it wasn't 13000 sq. ft. It wasn't very big but it did have an attic room upstairs that I had to climb over and over and over.......
