I went to the Post Office earlier today to mail some books that had been ordered, and I learned a couple of things to share.
First, if you need a box to mail something, there are so many places other than the Post Office to get them - cheaper places. Prices on display were between $5 and $15 - plus postage just for relatively small "Flat Rate" boxes. Then add your postage on top of that.
Second, there are no "do-overs" on stamps. If you make a mistake and affix a stamp to an envelope that you subsequently mess up by needing to reopen it or getting the address wrong, the stamp is essentially lost. If you can peel it off, and if it still sticks, you can use it. If!
You may not glue it back down or put tape over it. It nullifies the stamp - their rules.
You cannot exchange out-of-date or out-of-sticky stamps for the same value in new ones. Time was when you could.
If you ruin an envelope with the stamp on it, you can take the whole thing to the Post Office, and they will give you a whopping 90% of the value of a new one.
Be careful with those stamps! Better yet, go online and skip the mail altogether.
