Franklin MA Historical Commission Works to Catalog Museum's Collection

Since 2006 the Franklin MA Historical Commission has been cataloging hundreds of years of documents, photographs, newspapers, artifacts, and more using PastPerfect, a program designed to efficiently manage museums’ collections digitally. Once the database is set up research could be conduted more quickly and effeciently. The painstaking process of sifting through and cataloging all these items in a digital catalog is quite the effort considering all who are working on the project are on a volunteer basis. However, plans to apply for a grant are underway which could hire at least part time employee’s and speed the process up.
Next month’s exhibit will be featuring military uniforms donated by residents to honor military service through the years with artifacts that have been collected by the museum.
