The buyer pokes his head in, sees a cluttered room, then  walks on.

Kathy I remember coming home from college for the first short break and was shocked to see boxes stored on the floor and on the extra bed in my bedroom -- imagine the NERVE of my parents using my room for storage LOL!  Of course when a house is on the market it needs to look like company's coming -- at its very best.

Debbie- you're right, and we're all that way.  We overlook the items that buyers might focus on.

Joan- condition comes into play when buyers are considering an offer and what they might offer. 

Michael- it certainly can't hurt!!!  Just the basics of cleaning and editing are a huge start. 

Kathryn- that's it...allowing the best features to show. 

Jeffrey- thank you and hope your sellers can use it. 

Tom- some people are gifted and can see past a lot but even if they can, any offer will reflect the condition. 

Harry- Ask any stager and they will tell you that if they've staged a vacant home, many times the buyer will want to buy some or all of the furnishings. 

Jennifer- as a stager, I've walked into homes and had to look hard to try to decide what to do because there was so much in the way. 

Maureen- oh how funny!!!   I imagine parents with college students imagining what they could do with the extra space!

Yup, that pretty much sums it up.  The buyer needs to RULE OUT houses, because they can not buy them all.  Why give your home the best possible appeal and try to get it on the A LIST!?!  A good post and reminder.

Staging provides the buyer with the means to see the finished project.  They don't need to visualize, staging sets the stage.
