(Back to Nature Post Contest)

This contest requests that we create a post about our favorite local park or nature reserve.  As soon as I read this.... I knew exactly what I would be writing about.  The park I chose is located in Amesbury, MA.... Amesbury Pines.

Although the park is somewhat small, there is plenty to do here for everyone.  Located directly accross from Amesbury High School, the park includes baseball fields, a skateboard park, basketball courts, a nice playground with a zip line, picnic areas, open fields, wooded areas covered in pine trees and two nice ponds with Koi.  There really is something here for everyone.

I have to say, however, that I am quite partial to Amesbury Pines.  You see, they have one of the most beautiful disc golf courses in the area.

The course is an 18 basket course with nice tee pads and quality chain link baskets.  Every Tuesday, from early spring to late fall, is tags league night with anywhere from 5 to 40 disc golfers of all levels showing up.

The course plays out into open areas, over the water and through the beautiful pine trees that tower overhead.  It is so nice to get out there on a Tuesday afternoon for a walk through the pines.

Joanna - Once a month, a friend poots on his big boots and walks through the ponds collecting discs.

Andrew - It's a fun sport.  There are tons of courses all over the US.

Christina - Thanks!

Danny - Do it!  Though do it in the spring and we'll hit Fenway too.

Gayle - Thanks!  I'll take the advice!

Pat - Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed.

Teri - If I had moved to the left, there a New England style church steeple just at the horizon.  One day.... there was a double rainbow over it.... I had to sit.

BLR - So many parks... so little time.

Dan - There are a few courses down there.  I've yet to play one... .but plan to someday.

Martin,

How do you have time to work? I have not heard of disc golf until now.

Good post!

Mike - I only disc golf on Tuesday afternoon!  I figure that after 20 hours of work per day... I can afford it!
