Lead Follow Up..Who Else Needs a Simple Way to Do This??

Real Estate Broker/Owner with McKinney Realty Group

Lead follow up...who else needs a simple way to do this?? Raise your hand!!
Melissa McKinney Smart phones
I have spent endless hours trying to figure out a SIMPLE way to keep up with new leads/contacts... I have tried just about every system out there from the very expensive to the very economical but nothing did exactly what I wanted it to do on this topic.  Yes they have automated email campaigns and those are great and certainly serve their purpose.  Some have calendars that you can set reminders to do “something” and yes thats great too!

But for me on this one topic, I say that because I use a lot of the other things that are in the great systems that are out there, I have not found a system that will work.

  • Very simple, I want something that I can see on my phone
  • Edit on my phone and..
  • Be reminded on my phone

You would think that would be easy enough? There may be something out there, but I don't want to put the time in to program this whole thing, log into “it” every time I need something etc...

I have made up a system all my own and it is so simple that it alluded me for SO long!!

Here is the example: I talked with a new referral today that needs some help with credit score and she is very motivated to do the things she is going to need to do to get it done. Great! Now how am I going to remember to keep checking on her, without her slipping through the cracks? Glad you asked... :)

I make a calendar event with the title :
New lead Jane Doe

Location: I put where the lead/referral came from

Notes section I put “note”.  Her number, what we talked about, who I had call her for credit, etc...

Then I set the Repeat or Occurrence to every two weeks!!

Wala...now on my phone every two weeks it is going to show on my calendar that I need to make contact with her!! Then I will continue to add to the notes section each time we talk till she has bought her first home!!!

Simple right? We all have phones with calendars, right? This takes two minutes and it is with you always....

I have a personal challenge to make my iPhone 5 hold ALL of the data that I need at hand to make the most out of a great device!!

What do you put on your smartphone to make your real estate career more efficient?

This is the way to use the SMART phone by being smart. Simple and effective. Thanks for sharing.

I take all calls even if blocked. When I find out it is a sales pitch etc, I enter the contact as 'spam'. Never again do I take the same call. Saves me a bunch of time.

Thanks Smart putting those leads on the calendar on your Smart phone. Your CRM in eEdge also is another source, but you need to setup those reminders in eEdge too. Plus, I discovered that Google's calendar sync to my phone too.

What a great idea Melissa, I think that I am going to give it a shot & see how it works out. I too have tried so many different things and it's a job in itself to keep up with all the place & things I need to do.

Keep up the good suggestions :)

Smart enough.  I utilize my outlook calender, old school of sorts.  When I finally get onboard with a smart phone, I will use this simple and smart approach.  Good tips, Melissa!

Hey Melissa~ That makes perfect sense! I'm not sure how I missed this post but, I'm glad I found it today. I'm looking for ways to improve business in 2014 (and always), like you said, it's simple & another use of a tool we already know how to use. Great idea!
