Are you thinking of relocating to Wolfeboro, NH?  Here is some information that you might find useful before it is time to make the big move.

History

Wolfeboro is a quaint little town with a ton of history.  It is known as "the oldest summer resort in America".  It was named after General Wolfe and originally was spelled Wolfeborough.  In 1895 the spelling was changed by the U.S. Government to Wolfeboro. For more historical information visit the Wolfeboro Historic Society.

Downtown Wolfeboro is a fun place to visit either by car or boat.  There are many shops and restaurants, some where you can eat out on a deck that sits right over Lake Winnipesaukee.  It is simply beautiful.

Wolfeboro has water frontage on Lake Winnipesaukee (55,685 acres), Lake Wentworth (3097 acres), and Crescent Lake.

Schools

Crescent Lake School located at 75 McManus Road, Grades 4-6.

Kingwood Regional Middle School 404 South Main Street, Grades 7-8

Wolfeboro is also home of Brewster Academy which was originally the Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro Academy. In 1818 John Brewster attended the Academy. When he died he left in his will $500,000 to the Academy and the charter was amended and the name was changed to Brewster Free Academy.  It is located on a large piece of land that sits between South Main Street and Wolfeboro Bay. The first Brewster Free Academy building was built for $150,000!  It burnt down in 1905 and the building that is on the site presently was built in that same year. When Kingswood Regional High School was built in 1964 it was changed to Brewster Academy which is now a prestigious co-educational day and boarding school designed to prepare students for admission to the best colleges in the country.

Wolfeboro is a great little town. During the summer when I was a kid our family would go camping in the White Mountains and one of our day trips always included a trip to Wolfeboro.
