Columbus City School District

The grades available to Ohio schools (districts and individual buildings) from the Ohio Department of Education are:

  • Excellent with Distinction
  • Excellent
  • Effective
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Academic Watch
  • Academic Emergency

Do the familiar A, B, C, D, F grades correlate to the report cards from the Ohio Department of Education?  I am not sure if they do, but IF central Ohio Ohio School's grades using the familiar letter grades to  describe the rating from the Ohio Department of Education,  use grades that most of us are more familiar with:

  • A+ = Excellent with Distinction  Indian Springs Elementary School Columbus City Schools
  • A = Excellent
  • B = Effective
  • C = Continuous Improvement
  • D = Academic Watch
  • F = Academic Emergency

The Columbus Dispatch headline on Thursday, October 18, 2012 was "Columbus clings to it's "C." A local television news-person referred to the "Excellent with Distinction" report card of another district as A+ on October 17, 2012. The Columbus City School District as a whole received a grade of "Continuous Improvement" according to the Columbus Dispatch and the spread sheet of data available at this time.

Central Ohio Schools Get Grades

Central Ohio's school's grades are finally out... but subject to revision.  All Ohio school district's grades for the 2011- 2012 school year are "subject to revision" because of an audit of attendance data by school districts that could change the Report Card Data.

The familiar report card data for school buildings and districts still have the grades for the 2010 -2011 school year.  The school report cards in Ohio are usually released each year in August, just as children are going back to school.  Columbus, Ohio Back to School 2012 - 2013

Indian Springs Elementary School at 50 E. Henderson Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43214 received a Preliminary Report Card Rating of Excellent for last year!   An "A?"   Congratulations!
