Services for Real Estate Pros with Crye-Leike, Realtors

Sometimes you just want a web page out there in cyber space and you don't want to have to wait on your webmaster. You don't want another hourly fee. You want it to go live now and it would be nice if you could just add it yourself. And the content may not be right for your blog. Anyone can create a web page with google pages.

"Google Page Creator is a free tool that lets you create web pages right in your browser and publish them to the web with one click. There's no software to download and no web designer to hire. The pages you create are hosted on Google servers and are available at http://yoursitename.googlepages.com for the world to see." (excerpt from google)

google pagesMy Test Page
I made this page in literally a couple of minutes. It was just as easy as writing a blog. It even uses the same kind of simple editor. They have a few simple looks to choose from and you can pull in some widgets. If you wanted to get fancy you could even buy a domain name to forward to it.

Ideas
There are quite a few agents that I know that do not have web sites or want to do something quick and personal for a specific situation. I definitely think everyone should have a site, but sometimes things come up. So just in case you could use this to...

  • Create a page for a listing
  • Create a personalized report page to update a seller (extension of google docs idea from Bruno Roldan)
  • Create a resume/bio page (great if you don't have a full web site yet)
  • Create a basic web site for free and by yourself
  • Create a page about a neighborhood
  • Create a page for a homeowner's association
  • Create pages just for fun about personal trips, family fun (that may not fit in on your business site)

Examples

Angie, this looks like a good tool even if you already do have a website.  Thanks for the tip.

Hey Angie,  this is Awesome!!

Are you limited to how many you can have and is there a time limit that the site will sit there?

This is great for those one page sites that you want for something specific.  Thanks I missed it before and now I've bookmarked your post.

Stephanie - looks like there is not a limit to the number of pages you can create, but you are limited to a total size of 100 MB. You can also create up to 3 separate sites (ie like site1.googlepages.com, site2.googlepages.com etc) each with however many pages, but I'm not sure if each site is limited to 100 MB or if that is your total space for everything. As for time frame.... I think they can stay forever. I've had a page out there for a long time and I havent' found any info about pages being removed.

Another easy webpage group that offers free pages for the super-computer-illiterate is roxer.com. They also say that they're going to allow custom domains to the roxer page. I know little else about them but their technology is actually fun to use.

Hi Chuck - thanks for the tip. I went to roxer to check it out.

A couple things I don't like about it.... they put a banner at the top of my page that says 'roxer' and has a login. (my test page on roxer). Also in their faq they explain they may experiment with adding in advertising on people's sites as a way to make it free. I also found the site a little slow and harder to edit with the box concept.  For those reasons. I think I prefer google.

Angie,

I'm glad you wrote this! I had seen those (google web pages) before, but I originally thought they had to be hosted on our own servers, so I did not see the point, but saved the site on my favorites. Now I think I'll go back. I can see where this would be a great tool for listings!! IE: 123address.googlepages.com
