Fotos On the Fly - Rolling storm clouds on the Hudson....

By

Sometimes stormy weather has a beauty all its own.  Besides, these days if I  waited for a clear day, I would almost never actually shoot anything.  Waiting for the rain and cloud cover to clear is like trying to wait for hell to freeze over - not happening anytime soon. So here is another shot under heavy cloud cover.  The NYC skyline is in the background as I took a shot straight down the Hudson River.  This time I chose B&W with HDR to put the clouds in clear focus...

Ruthmarie, great photo! You are right - a good picture does not need Sun all the time!

Hi Ruthmarie:

**Unique Storm Photo** especially with NYC in the distant background, behind all the river water. I can almost smell the fresh scent of rain.  Awesome Clouds.  Myrna :) :) :)  :(o_o):

This is really cool, Ruthmarie.  It looks so ominous. Oh, and I know what you mean...the weather has been rather rainy lately.

Hi Praful - Its true...sometimes the more interesting shots are taken under cover of cloud and wind....and thank you!

Thanks Michelle - If I waited for the sun to shine, I'd never take anything.

Hi Myrna - It was one of those days....Rain was definitely in the air.  Wish I had an umbrella - for the camera!  I could have kept on shooting.

Hi Debbie - I almost died of shock when I saw sun on both Sat &  Sun...It is a bit ominous...But I was trying to capture the way the clouds were just rolling in.

Hi Barbara - I like both.  It really depends on the photo.  Some work better in color - others black and white.  I actually intended this one to be in color, but it really didn't work that well.  So I converted it to black and white and played with HDR.  It worked.  Often, I make the decision as to what to do after the fact.

Hi Miriam - You are close, but you just missed it - This was taken in Irvington in the parking lot next to "The Red Hat".

Ruthmarie - I learned photography in college using Ansel Adams Zone System.  This is a photograph he would have approved of.  It has all the tonal values and looks silvery, not grey.  Beautiful composition as well.  Maybe you should forget about real estate photography and just start selling your prints to art galleries.  They really are that good!
