My wife kept telling me how great the new Safeway is at Broadway & Mineral in Littleton. If you asked her a year ago if she would have shopped at this new Safeway - her answer was no! She was not at all happy about Tony's Market leaving this location that was so close to our home.
Fast forward a year later, I have actually heard her bragging about how much she loves the new Safeway. Fresh peanut butter bar, Gelato station, manned Coffee bean station, - the list goes on & on. I know their has been some reluctance by some to welcome the new Safeway as it is the first & only Safeway grocery store in the state of Colorado to offer a full liquor store within - but controversy aside I have to say I have now checked it out - and it is rather nice.
But something even more interesting caught my eye as I was pulling out of my parking space. Was that a Santoro's Pizza sign I saw on the other side of the plaza? The north side is still being renovated a bit, so at first I wasn't quite sure. But as I drove closer - it was true.
I have to say, in my mind, this was good news. Far more exciting than a new grocery store. Several years ago, my prior office was in Lone Tree
and was next to the shopping area that houses Santoro's Pizza. My family quickly became addicted. My children were always overjoyed to go, and play with the pizza dough on the counter adjacent to the pizza makers. They were always so nice to them, giving them flour to mash into their dough - and my wife & I loved it - we actually had 10 minutes of peace & quiet to talk without the kids hounding us "When will our food be here?" It was practically like being on a date! And as for the food - the brick oven pizzas are delicious and the steak sandwiches a must to try as well.
I have to admit we have not frequented Santoro's as much since I am in a new office location. We still try to pop over from time to time & we occasionally do get take-out from there still but I guess it has become for us a little out of sight, out of mind. However, with this new Santoro's location in Littleton at the corner of Mineral & Broadway - it is very quick drive from my Highlands Ranch home and our daily drives take us right by every day. I see more great pizza in my future.
