In several Front Range communities, bikes are widely used. Nonetheless, bicycles are extremely special in Boulder, where biking is practically a religion. People in Boulder give names to their bikes. In addition, they affix trailers to it to go shopping for groceries. Even some business is normally done from the saddle. There is a single real estate company that shows customers around the community by means of bike. The city presently has approximately one hundred fifty miles of bike trails and lanes and also dedicated poles for securing your bike.

Get ready to enjoy watching Boulder from the saddle of a bike; here are a few town paths. The Boulder Creek Path, which happens to be 7 miles long one way, runs across the Boulder Creek from east to west. The trail starts from Boulder Canyon, runs by way of downtown Boulder, and ends up in residential east Boulder. The mid-town section is a fairly shady spot in which to ride through the summer season. Keep in mind that the path, mainly in the downtown area, may be jam packed and remember to watch out for pedestrians and youngsters around corners.

If you proceed east along the Boulder Creek Path, it changes to a north-south direction at the end. You should keep going south, cross under Arapahoe Road and right onto Old Tale Road if you want a mountain view. Continue on riding beyond the end of Old Tale Road and, once you've crossed a wooden bridge, go right onto Gapter Road to touch base with a bike path at Baseline Avenue. Right here is the beginning of the South Boulder Creek/Bobolink Trail (two miles long one-way) - a short and lovely ride throughout the east Boulder grasslands.

If you're looking for a more difficult ride, go west along the Boulder Creek Path into Boulder Canyon (1.5 miles long one-way). From this portion of town, you can follow the path for a couple miles right until it intersects with Fourmile Canyon Drive. It is a gentle slope and you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of Boulder Creek and Boulder Canyon.  If you like mountain biking, consider the Betasso Preserve (2.5 miles one-way, 500 foot gain and loss) trail, which is a single-track above Boulder. It isn't unduly technical, although it can be fast. You will get captivating vistas amidst the meadows and this is a good way to introduce yourself to mountain biking in the area. Don't forget you will be sharing the trail together with pedestrians and that it is not open to bicycles on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
