Hurricane Sandy may bring serious wind and storm damage that could flood Bronxville, NY 10708
With Hurricane Sandy following a track towards our New York area, disaster response companies like ours are all saddling up – like we did during last year’s “Stormtober.” Remember the unexpected October 28th snow storm, when the leaves were still on trees and power lines were downed all over Westchester County? Wow!
I'll have more information as we learn more about this storm that could come in as a Category 1 hurricane, or slow down to a tropical storm Monday. Just wanted to share some research and storm tips for all!
Now, we’re expecting a so called “Frankenstorm,” by early next week, just in time to ruin another Halloween in Bronxville, NY 10708. Plus, it’s a full moon and, with our monthly lunar high tide, that could bring great storm surge threats to coastal towns – like Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Rye.
Essentially, Sandy threatens major wind and water damage to home and business owners in Westchester County, NY by Monday. On Halloween, Sandy is expected to really move over us and north to New England, after dumping two days of rain on Bronxville and the lower HUD. As of today, 31 Carribeans lost their lives in this enormous storm.
Plan to prepare now, so you’ll have what you and your business or family will need on hand to safely weather Sandy’s stormy conditions. As early as Sunday, leading bands of rains will combine with high winds of 75+ mph, followed by potential flooding by Tuesday morning. Rain amounts are expected at 6 to 10 feet, if the New York area is hit relatively directly by Sandy’s flooding rains.
Emergency managers from Manhattan to Maine recommend preparations that people can make now – and that will minimize potential damage from what some are calling, “Frankenstorm.” Early planning and preparation can be the key to your safety, according to local emergency managers in the NYC area.
What we suggest at our disaster response company is that it’s important to use your time wisely. Don't wait until the last minute to prepare and ensure your safety, at home or at work.
As always, please call any restoration pros like us, rather than cleaning storm surge, seawater, or storm runoff in your home by yourself. A room or basement full of water should be treated like the petri dish of germs that it is after flooding. It's best to leave it to our background checked, highly trained crews.
Not only do we have uniformed staff, but we are certified by the IICRC in structural drying, so we know a bit more about drying a business, home or room than your average contractor. Also, we are one stop shopping and can get the water out, dry your property out and get you back and painted -- making your flood damage like it never even happened.
Some restoration companies like our Servpro of Scarsdale / Mount Vernon may do residential or commercial cleaning like this, but no job is too big or too small. Forrest and I have teams to help and 18 wheelers nearby for large, multi-level buildings.
There are other Servpros in our area of Westchester County, but call us directly and we'll make sure you'll get professional, helpful flood remediation help, as soon as possible! We are on call 24/7 & 365 days a year.
