Hurricane Sandy headed for the DC area

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 New Millennium

Hurricane Sandy seems to be heading for the DC area.  in preparing for a hurricane there are some essential items to have on hand:

Water - bottled water for the family to drink.  Fill up bathtubs to use to flush toilets, etc if you lose water.

Non-perishable foods

Toiletries

Week's Supply of Medication

Flashlights & batteries

Battery powered radio

Fully charged cell phone and a car charger

Corded telephone

Full tank of gas

Cash - if you lose power some ATMs may not work

Be careful if using candles to minimize the risk of fire.

Fill ziploc bags with water and stick them into the crevices of the freezer.  The extra ice will help keep your freezer items frozen longer after you lose power.

The most important thing is to stay safe by staying indoors and keeping up with the latest weather information.

It looks like a great checklist and I have everything on it .. Only we don't have a generator... Keeping my fingers cross the storm is not too bad and hope all are safe.

Bracing for Sandy here in PA too.  Great checklist, I agree.  Just glad that the leaves have come off the trees.  Last year this time, we had snow for Halloween!  Stay safe and have the UNO cards ready!

Stacey-Ann, good advice.  Keep dry and safe. I agree with Joan.  Keep our fingers crossed that Sandy passes quickly w/o much damage.  I will check on you again.
