Brookside Gardens flowers after Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy visited Montgomery County, Maryland last night.  Today, is a day for recovery in the area. Our office building is closed today.  The federal, state, city and county offices are closed for the day.  Thousands are without power and many families are facing major damages from the storm.

Dolores just spoke with friends that have a large farm on the Potomac River. A soy bean crop was planted.  The river flooded the entire farm including the home on the farm. There will be no harvest this year. Those of us that did not suffer major storm damage are very thankful.

Brookside Gardens is one of our favorite places to visit in Montgomery County.  These photographs are from a recent visit.

Have an outstanding week.  Enjoy the colors of autumn with your camera in hand.

Roy, saw on the news some of the damage in your area. We only got a few inches of snow, but other areas in WV got up to 3-5 feet of snow....

Your comments are much appreciated.

John:  No, we did not go out to photograph storm damage.  It is much safer to stay close to home and watch the TV reports on the fires and floods.

Hi Roy, Glad you escaped most of the damage from the storm. I think New Jersey and New York got the worst of it. I sure hope things can be normalized as soon as possible for all these hard hit areas.

Roy,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the people impacted by the storm. Life can change in an instant. The irony is it brings out the best in people like you. Your thoughtfulness and caring touches my heart.

My heart goes out to the people whose lives have been changed. I'm grateful for the beauty we receive from Mother Nature, such as the plants, flowers, butterflies, birds and trees. Your post is a reminder to never take things for granted.

Stay safe my friend.
