Lower Manhattan below 34th Street has been devastated by hurricane Sandy. The Hudson river overflowed at 23rd Street onto 10th and 11th Avenue. The west side highway, a river. The East Village is under terrible floods as is Battery Park City. Fires in Chelsea and throughout the city. Sandy caused terrible damage perhaps the worst hurricane damage in NYC history. Sandy wrecked havoc through out the region.
Fortunately on the Upper West Side of Manhattan her name was Sandra. She didn't quite let her hair down here like she did downtown. Sandra took down a few trees, left a few puddles but her anticipated behavior was unacceptable for the Upper West Side neighborhood. So our doorman called her a town car and sent her on her way,-)

Updates from the City:
- Power - It is uncertain when power will be restored, but given the extensive impacts to the system, it will likely be at least a few days for the majority of the power to be restored by Con Edison
- Transportation
o Partial bus service resume later today
o Staten Island Ferry service will likely not resume for a few days, although East River Ferry service will likely resume earlier
o Extensive flooding in tunnels, tracks, and stations exist in the subway system, particularly in the East River Crossings. Subway service will likely be restored on a piecemeal basis.
o The Mayor has signed an executive order to allow taxi cabs to pick up multiple faires and for livery cabs to pick up street hails anywhere in the 5 boroughs. - Schools are closed tomorrow
